Help wanted – maybe?

Hey folks! I don’t know if this proposal will be of interest to anyone, but here’s something that’s been kicking around in my mind and thought I should at least put out into the world.
I want someone to take on the job of running Chinwag’s web site. It’s a job I hate and I keep putting off a lot of related things like updating documentation as a result.
As an entity that makes no money, this wouldn’t be a paid role, which sucks, and is the main reason I haven’t put this out there before now. I’m hoping for a skills trade relationship. I can provide lots of perks like access to a Nextcloud instance with generous quotas for personal use, the Chinwag Gitea instance and other hosted things I maintain already. You get to forget about backups and updates. That’s my bag.
I guess I want to know if there’s a web person out there who wants a personal sysadmin.
As for the role – I have a strong idea of what I want the site to be capable of, and how to deliver it, but my design skills are negligible at best – given I’m publishing this on the Chinwag blog, you should already know this! I’m a technical person who has strong opinions on usability and accessibility but no skills on the implementation side. The current site was set up as a kind of temporary thing over five years ago with the first kinda-OK free theme that came along and has been bugging me ever since.
Initially I really want to just migrate everything from WordPress to a static site generator like Hugo and while I’ve even done this as a test already, it looks like arse and I don’t want to deploy it. The tools involved are up to you though, I’d want to talk about how the publishing workflow would go and maybe you know about things I just don’t. I hope so!
I would like to hear from anyone who’s interested in taking on the initial migration, whether or not you’d be up for an ongoing relationship with Chinwag the entity. That said, someone with a long relationship with the Fediverse and who seems to be fairly reputable and chill is kind of essential.
Message me via XMPP or hit me up on Mastodon if you want to have a bit of a chat about this.
